Margaret Loncki is a PADI Open Water Instructor currently operating in Santa Barbara, California. She also has earned her Rescue Diver certification, Emergency Oxygen Provider, as well as Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care certification. She has achieved specialty instructor ratings for Enriched Air certifications as well as Emergency Oxygen Provider certifications. Margaret is also a rated Emergency First Response Instructor.
Margaret has been an avid diver since she was first certified. Her immediate and intense love of the ocean lead her to study bull shark behavior in Fiji, an experience that inspired her to major in organismal biology and economics at Claremont McKenna College. At Claremont, she completed her yearlong senior thesis exploring the potential of marine ecotourism operations to produce more efficient and successful marine protection, especially focusing on shark diving ecotourism. She pursued her dual major because she firmly believes that economic solutions will be most supported and successful in producing effective environmental change.
At Claremont she also played both varsity soccer and golf for Claremont Mudd Scripps. During her four years, she was a member of 4 SCIAC championship teams and led the CMS Women’s Golf program to its first NCAA DIII National Championship title. Loncki also captured the individual title to become the 2018 DIII National Champion. Following her senior season, Loncki earned All-American honors and was named SCIAC Athlete of the Year, Ping Player of the Year, and was finalist for DIII Honda Woman Athlete of the Year.
